Cards that offer Guaranteed
Approval come in two categories: Catalog Cards and Prepaid /
Debit Cards.
Catalog
Cards are credit cards that are used
specifically to purchase items from a single source such as a
catalog or a website. They are typically used as entry level
credit cards for people wanting to establish credit or as a way
to rebuild damaged credit.

Prepaid / Debit
Cards allow you to make a purchase at
any location that accepts the credit version of the card and to
access your bank accounts anywhere through the use of an ATM
machine. Unlike traditional credit cards, Prepaid Cards do not
extend you credit. Instead, accounts are prepaid for a specific
amount while still being backed by Visa® or Mastercard for
universal acceptance.

Our Assessment
Catalog Cards can be a good first step
for those who have little or no credit or for those with damaged
credit and wanting to rebuild it. Fairly large fees may apply so
the consumer must weigh the benefits vs. the rewards before
signing up and should be ready to move on to less costly
shopping alternatives as soon as their credit score warrants.
Catalog Cards are recommended only when no other credit option
applies.
Debit and Prepaid cards are
types of payment cards that provide a convenient and secure
alternative to cash and checks.
